Zwei Abende hintereinander mit den wundervollen Liedern von Sofie Reeds Album verbracht zu haben, sie immer wieder hörend, ist eine erfüllte Zeit gewesen, in der die Stunden nur so dahingeflogen sind. Die intime Atmosphäre ihrer Lieder steht im wohltuenden Gegensatz zu der heutigen überdrehten und allzu lauten Zeit und ist schon deshalb eine Kostbarkeit.
Zumeist entstehen die neuen Lieder der Popmusik aus einem Gefühl der Entbehrung, des Frustes, der inneren Leere heraus und wirken deshalb in einer bestimmten Art und Weise krank. Ganz im Gegensatz dazu entspringen Sofie Reeds Lieder einem inneren Reichtum, einer Fülle, die ihr Übermaß gerne und liebend verschenkt. Sofie Reed ist nicht auf der Suche, sie hat bereits gefunden. Wer ihre Lieder hört, fühlt sich beschenkt und entdeckt mit jedem erneuten Hören weitere Kostbarkeiten, andere Facetten, Tiefen, die es auszuloten gilt. Wir glauben, es wäre ein Fehler, ihre Lieder bestimmten Kategorien zuzuordnen. Nein, Sofie Reed singt keinen Blues, Jazz oder Country, - sie singt sich selbst. Es ist selten genug, daß man das von jemandem sagen kann. Wer ihre Lieder hört, der fühlt, mit wieviel Liebe und Sorgfalt sie an ihnen gearbeitet hat. Großes Lob auch an ihre Musiker, die allesamt eine hervorragende Leistung bieten. Es macht Freude, ihnen zuzuhören, besonders deshalb, weil niemand sich in den Vordergrund spielt, sondern alle, auch sie selbst, sich der Grundstimmung ihrer Kompositionen unterordnen und sie damit zur vollen Geltung bringen.
Sofies Stimme ist bemerkenswert und einzigartig. Bei manchen ruhigen Passagen erinnert sie uns ein wenig an die von Aretha Franklin. Ja, von diesem samtenen Klang können wir nicht genug bekommen.
Unser Lieblingslied ist gleich mit dem ersten Hören "Falling Star" gewesen. (Sie hat es sicherlich gemacht, weil sie wußte, daß wir auf dieses Lied immer schon gewartet haben!) Übrigens auch ein großes Lob für die Festlegung der Reihenfolge der Titel, wodurch das Album von vorne bis hinten spannend bleibt.
Dieses Album zu hören, ist eine Freude und ein Geschenk.

Two evenings being spent with the wonderful songs of Sofie Reed's album, hearing them over and over again, has been a period of fulfillingness to us with the hours flying by. The intimate atmosphere of her songs is in a very soothing way contrasting to the common overspeeded and far too loud today's taste, for only therefore it is such a treasure.
Usually the present popsongs are deriving from a feeling of privation, of frustration, of inner emptiness, and that's why they often have that special kind of ailing effect. In the very opposite to that these songs are caused by an inner richness, a deeper fullness which loves to give away its wealth. Sofie Reed isn't on a search - she has found! The listener to her songs feels presented all over, with each renewed listening again discovering more preciuosness, other facets, and depths to be measured out. We ourselves think it would be a mistake to class her songs to any categories. No, she isn't singing the Blues, Jazz or Country - she is singing herself. It's rarely enough to be said of anyone! Who listens to Sofie Reed's songs feels how much love and care she has spent on them. A huge praise also to all the musicians with her, each one of them doing a superior performance. It's a pure joy to follow their play, espacially because none of them is pushing himself to the fore, but the whole band, including herself, is showing the basic mood of her compositions to advantage by subordinating itself.
Sofie Reed's voice is impressing and unique. Within some calm passages it reminds us a little to Aretha Franklin's voice. Well, we can't get enough of this velvet timbre.
"Falling Star" has instantly becoming our favourite song from the very first time on. (She must have written it with knowing us so much waiting for this song!) Another praise to the carefully choice of the titles' order, which makes the album totally thrilling from the beginning to the end.
Listening to this album is a high bliss and a true bless.
